Riding the Rapids!

We had a leisurely morning today before heading out from Golden toward Laporte (between Fort Collins and Estes Park) where we had reservations for a 2:15 Whitewater Rafting trip. This was our second attempt as a family to try WWR. The first time in Wyoming (about 6 years ago) was cancelled due to a fire in the canyon. This time, in Colorado, everything went off without a hitch. We went with Wunderlust Adventures and they did a great job explaining everything to us, and letting us know what was happening next. We did the "taste of whitewater" trip which was class II and III rapids on the La Poudre river. Chloe was worried this trip was going to be "boring," but was pleasantly surprised at how exciting and thrilling it was. We all got soaked, which we didn't mind since it was hot and sunny. All in all, it was a really fun time!

After the trip, we headed to the YMCA of the Rockies to check in to our room at the Wind River Lodge. We will be staying here for 6 nights, so we were finally able to unpack a little and settle in. The YMCA has a ton of activities and events to choose from, and we're right next door to Rocky Mountain National Park, so we won't have any trouble finding things to do this week!
