Our last day...a good day!
Today is the last day of our 3 week vacation to Colorado and Minnesota. We started the day like many others this week at the lake...we went fishing in the bright morning sunlight, with a fairly strong breeze blowing most of the morning. Our luck around the Potato Islands continued at the same pace it had all week, and after about 3 1/2 hours of fishing, we had again filled our basket with 17 fish (we just couldn't break our weekly record, try as we might!). We had all rock bass, save one (a blue gill).
The afternoon was warm and sunny, a perfect day for tubing. All week the kids have been enjoying this tube called the Paparazzi that Beth and Bill brought up. Today Beth, Bill and the kids convinced me that I should take a ride on it. It's a 3-person tube, so Beth, Wenda & I took a ride. It was hilarious! We were screaming, half-crying (in pain and agony), and laughing hysterically throughout the whole ride. We bounced up and down as Bill sent us outside the wake a couple of times. But our ride was really tame compared to the wild ride I watched Luke and Seth take later! Those two teenage boys were crazy!
After tubing, we started cleaning up and thinking about supper. The Grandpas from each family went up town to Cass Lake and brought back pizza for each family which we ate outside on the picnic table. It was a great way to finish our week together before we went our separate ways to start the task of packing and preparing to leave.
As I look back on this trip and re-read my blog, I am amazed at how much we have done in a short 3-week span. The time has gone by slowly, and yet, it seems like only yesterday we were leaving our driveway in great anticipation of the adventures we would encounter. We have not been disappointed! We have seen the beauty of God's creation and the variety of his handiwork in wonders as big as mountains and as small as wildflowers. And we've once again fallen in love with the birds, the fish and the trees. Hopefully as we return home to our busy lives and day-to-day work, we can remember to stop and appreciate the wonders of God's creation in our own back yard.
