It seems like every year as we get ready for our annual summer vacation, there is always more to do than we plan for. This year, I had worked on my office things (finances, filing, etc) the week before while the girls were gone to work on Grandpa's farm. So this week we (the girls and I) were able to focus on cleaning and packing.

Today was Leah's birthday, but I had already warned her that we'd be packing and cleaning on her b-day and we'd save the celebrating for later. She actually spent an hour of her b-day giving herself a gift, as she had to give blood to have available for her upcoming spine surgery. Then I treated her by letting her use a massage gift certificate I had received during teacher appreciation week.

Seth and Maddie came home from Grand Rapids this evening and we had some pizza for supper. We then finished up the packing, and Tom packed the car up. By 10:45 p.m. I felt like there wasn't anything left to do, so I started knitting. Tom sat down to read the paper. I couldn't believe we felt ready to go and it was still so early...definitely a record for us! Tomorrow we leave!
