The Last...

It's our last day at the lake, and so begins our list of lasts. Tom, Leah & I went out fishing off Star Island this morning. We used up our last minnows, and caught our last fish (6 perch). We didn't fish long as we wanted to say good-bye to Grandpa & Grandma and help them get their boat out of the lake.

After lunch, Deb & I went on our last kayak ride. Melissa joined us after a bit. We drank our last hard lemonades as we tried to solve all the world's problems. Since there are still some problems to be solved, I guess we'll just have to take this up again next year!

Tom went for his last bike ride, this time around Cass Lake (about 30 miles), while I went on my last tax-free clothes shopping trip to the little mall in Bemidji, where I found some great deals. Jared came with me and got himself some shirts for the new job he'll start at the University of Wisconsin next week. We picked up pizza at Dave's pizza on our way home. It was okay, but nothing spectacular. The girls went swimming with their cousins for the last time, and then played some games. They rounded out the evening with one last campfire.

And so...Cass Lake 2014 comes to an end. Here are the stats for the year to wrap things up:

Dates: June 27-July 12, 2014 This was our 10th year at Cass Lake, our 9th year at Birch Villa People we vacationed with: 1st week- Tom, Linda, Seth, Maddie, Leah, & Chloe; Paul, Melissa & Tommy 2nd week- Tom, Linda, Jared, Leah, Chloe (cabin 7); Harold and Eleanor K (Sah-Kah-Tay, cabin 9); Roy & Deb G, Luke, Kara, Erin & Leah (BV cabin 5); Paul & Melissa K & Tommy (BV cabin 6) Price of Gas: $3.59-$3.69 We took two cars this year, our 2014 Honda CR-V and 2012 Toyota Prius. Jared also came with his Saturn Vue. Number of fish caught: 105. Brought home: 79 ( 49 perch, 25 rock bass, 2 bluegill, 2 Walleye, 1 Crappie) (16 freezer bags) Restaurants we ate at while here: Tutto Bene's (Tom &aLinda), Zhateau Zorbaz, Ruttger's Birchmont Lodge, Zona Rosa's Church Attended: Evangelical Free Church of Bemidji Other events/activities: Itasca State Park (and biking the Wilderness Trail); Biking the Mi-Gi-Zi trail, the Heartland trail to Walker (and Tom to Dorset), and around Lake Bemidji and Cass Lake; shopping in Walker & Bemidji; ForestEdge Winery.
