What to do on a windy, rainy day
We were up early again today to try to beat the wind, but when Tom & I (the girls opted to sleep in today) arrived at Pike Bay, the wind had beat us there. It was rough waters once again, and once again the perch were biting. After a couple hours of splashing and soaking, we headed back to the resort with 7 smallish perch. We caught one more bag of mouth-watering fish for the freezer, which was our goal for the day.
By mid-afternoon it was raining again, so we were off to Forestedge winery. Beth, Bill, Mom and Dad followed in a second car. When we were arrived, we were shocked to see the parking lot full of cars, and when we entered the tasting room, we found at least 15 people enjoying what is usually our own private tasting room. After some investigation, we found out that John (who usually attends to us) and his partner (brother?) had sold the winery to another couple (i.e. the unfamiliar faces we saw behind the counter). We tracked down our "friend" John in the back room, and he welcomed us back to watch the bottling machine process some plum wine. He then gave our little party of six our own private tasting off to the side. Although things have changed (obviously business is booming for the new owners, so that's good), the product is still the unique and great-tasting wine it’s always been!
The rain continued as Beth and I made a quick trip to Walker to return a couple of items and browse the stores we had missed on Monday. Then it rained some more, as we ate supper and headed to Mom and Dad’s cabin for some brownies (made by Chloe), ice cream, coffee, and a rousing game of “Five Crowns” for the ladies (Mom, Beth, Leah, Chloe, Elise, Rebekah & I). Although rainy days aren’t ideal for a lake vacation, we manage to make the best of them!
