B-last day!
It's Friday. On a sad note, it's our last day at the lake. On the bright side, it's a glorious, sun-shiny, warm day at the lake! What better way to end our "Cass Lake 2016" adventure!
We started with some fishing. Tom and I coaxed Leah out of bed, and we were on our way to Pike Bay by about 9:30. Our goal was to catch 15 fish, since we had 85 in the freezer and wanted to hit 100! By 11:30, we had surpassed our goal with 16 (1 bluegill, 2 perch and 13 rock bass). We were also thrilled to have a beautiful, up-close Eagle sighting while on the Bay.
Back on land, we all (Tom & I, Beth & Bill) chipped in to help Mom and Dad get packed up and get their boat on their trailer. The kids all came to say "good-bye" to their Grandma and Grandpa who took off around 2:00.
The sunshine and calm lake allowed for a great afternoon of kayaking for the ladies (Deb, Beth and I) and tubing for the kids. Beth and I spent a little time baby-sitting adorable Benjamin, now about 4 months old, while Paul and Melissa took Zach and Tommy skiing.
Our final Friday night tradition has become a pizza party for our families outside on the picnic tables. After supper we had the kids line up for the annual "cousins jump photo." We had to get creative with baby Benjamin, but everyone thought he did great!
Since the sun was still shining, Beth, Bill, Tom and I decided to go on one final bike ride around the Migizi trail. Since it was getting near dusk, the bugs were a little thick at times, but we were thankful all the trees and debris had been cleaned up from earlier in the week. It was a great ride!
Back at the resort, Tom and I went to the lodge to check-out with Tony, had one final ice cream splurge, and then resumed our packing. It's been a great two weeks...but all good things must come to an end. Good-night, Cass Lake.
