A bluegill, a beach and a barbecue
Due to Tom's biking accident last summer that left him with nerve issues in his left hand and fingers, we weren't sure what type of boat to rent this year. We tried the "tiller" style on the first day, but the vibration of the tiller in his left hand seemed to aggravate the nerve pain. There was a slightly bigger boat with a steering column available, so we switched it up for the rest of the week.
Tuesday's wind, along with the new boat, presented new challenges. Tom and I fished near Star Island first, but we came up empty-handed and were a bit nervous about the heavy clouds that threatened rain. We moved over to the Potato Islands, where we were happy to find sunshine and get out of the wind a bit. We were only able to come up with three fish (2 perch and 1 bluegill), but didn't really mind. As they say, "A bad day of fishing beats a good day at work!"
The afternoon was uneventful, with relaxing around the resort and visiting with family. Several of us sat at the beach and watched Jeremy and the boys build sand castles and water trenches.
For dinner we decided to go to C.K. Dudley's, a barbecue restaurant we had tried and liked last year. A gang of 19 of us gathered together and enjoyed a great meal. Prior to going out, Tom and I stopped by MedExpress with Chloe, who had come down with a sore throat. The doctor and facility were super nice and Chloe left with antibiotics for what looked like strep. Hopefully she'll be feeling better soon!
