Lazy Days, Crazy Days...
As our vacation nears its end, we are beginning to savor every moment. We started the day with a fishing trip to Pike Bay with Tom (of course, he's our driver), Linda (of course, she's the guide), Seth & Luke. We lowered our standards a bit and decided it was okay to keep 8" perch (before this our cut-off had been 9"), so we ended up with quite a basket-full, 20 perch and 2 rock bass. We headed back in by 12:30 so Tom could get all the fish cleaned and we could get over to Walker for a little Crazy Days shopping. We picked up a few bargains and enjoyed the fun of the good, old-fashioned sidewalk sale, still alive and well in Minnesota.
The stores closed early (about 5:00) so we headed for dinner. We wanted to take the kids to Pepper's (a place right on Leech Lake that Tom and Linda had eaten at a couple of times 2-3 years ago). But when we went to look for it, we found that it had been replaced by a new apartment building and a new upscale restaurant called "The 502." It was a bit pricey to take the whole gang to (but Tom and Linda might try it in the future on their own), so we opted instead for Cafe' Zona Rosa's, a Mexican restaurant we had also considered trying. We were not disappointed. The food and service were excellent and the prices were reasonable. We arrived home early enough for Tom, Seth, Luke & Leah to hit the Mi-Gi-Zi bike trail before dark. Linda and Chloe went to the lodge to hang out. And that pretty much sums up another great day at one of our favorite places!
