Sunday morning for our family means church. (Yes, even on vacation.) We really enjoy packing up the whole kit-n-kaboodle, and taking them over to the E-V Free Church in Bemidji. The 11:00 worship service isn't too early for any of on a vacation sleep schedule, the contemporary worship style fits our more relaxed mode, and the preaching is usually something we need to hear to keep our hearts and minds in the right place.
After church we took a quick peek at the church's sanctuary expansion project, currently underway. We look forward to worshipping in this nice large room when we come next year. We also discussed final plans for the annual family potluck dinner to be held later in the afternoon.
The Potluck was amazing, with the usual grilled pork chops, potato casserole, parsley bread & salads. We (the next generation) were so proud of ourselves for pulling it off without our parents' around to organize and assist (Uncle Roy & Aunt Sone are absent and my parents are not here this year either due to a meeting conflict).
After dinner we lounged by the lake, enjoying the sunshine. The kids went tubing and some of the families did a little fishing. By evening a storm had rolled in so many of us headed for the lodge for internet time, games, and popcorn. After the storm, we all enjoyed another annual tradition...the rainbow sighting. It wouldn't be summer at Cass Lake without a rainbow!
