Today looks like it's going to be our worst weather day of the trip. A high of 62 degrees is predicted, with a good chance of rain all day. Again the wind is blowing large waves on the lake, and the sky is overcast. So, the women have already planned to go shopping in Walker today. But first, we feel we better get a little fishing in since we skipped it all day yesterday.
So Tom, Seth, Leah & I headed out to the western side of Star Island (where we would be out of the Southeast wind), and were very surprised to find a little fishing hot spot. In about 1 1/2 hours we had caught 14 fish (9 Rockies, 4 Bluegill (or "Sunnies"), and a perch). Catching "Sunnies" on a cloudy day had us all singing a verse of "My Girl," which we thought might get us a spot on America's Got Talent someday (haha!).
We headed in so Leah & I could get ready for shopping, and Tom & Seth went back out to catch more fish. Unfortunately, there were no more to be caught. They didn't feel like singing by the time they got in after several wet boat rides in and out through the big waves. Leah & I headed down to Walker with Courtney riding along, while Chloe rode with Lindsay and Wenda in their car. We had a fun day of shopping, because, "what else are you going to do when it's dreary and rainy?" In the meantime, Tom & Seth hopped on their bikes (after Tom had cleaned all the fish) and rode all the way down to Walker (23 miles!) to meet us around 6:00 for dinner. They were tired, a little sore, cold, and soaked by the time they arrived. Luckily we had planned ahead and packed clothes for them to change into. We ate dinner at Zona Rosa's (a nice Mexican Restaurant that's become a tradition for us), and hurried back to Birch Villa for Texas Hold 'Em Poker night. Seth joined in the fun.
Our big excitement for the evening is going to see the final Harry Potter movie: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2! Since we have been coming to Cass Lake, we have spent many vacations looking forward to a release of a book or movie in the series, as many have come out while we were here. And now, the final one. We are excited, but a little sad at the same time. Just as none of us wanted the book series to come to an end, we don't really want the movies to end either. But hey, it was really fun while it lasted...thanks Harry, Ron & Hermione!!
