I like to show where our trip starts, so even though it doesn't start until tomorrow, we begin here. Home is in Niles, Michigan, and on the night before vacation we are busy, busy with lots of last minute errands, cleaning and packing.

This year, our niece, Shanna, is living with us, so she will be house-sitting and cat-sitting for us while we're gone. This has been one of the hottest weeks on record, (100-103 degrees for 4 or 5 days in a row), and we've had very little rain all month, so one of the necessary tasks the night before we leave is watering the flowers.

Tomorrow we set out on another Cass Lake adventure...
