The weatherman was right. The forecast called for rain, and when we woke up it was cloudy with an occasional drop. We ladies always use the "rainy vacation day" as our excuse to head to Walker, Minnesota (1/2 hour South of our resort) to do a little shopping. So we hopped in our cars and off we went! Deb, Melissa and Kara rode in Deb's car, and Mom, Chloe, Leah & I rode in mine.
Since we left by about 10:00, we were able to hit all of our favorite stores: Reeds, Christmas Point, Lundrigans, Walker General Store, Jenny & Company and Tiger Lily's. We had a nice lunch at the Village Cafe. The rain really came down for awhile, further justifying our choice of shopping for the day!
Tom and Dad had gone out to try their luck at fishing, but were soon rained out (and soaked!). After he dried out and the weather cleared, Tom biked down to Walker to meet us, and was promptly sent on a driving task. He took the 3 teenage girls up to Bemidji to meet Jared, who drove Erin & Leah G, to see the movie "Monsters University." The four ladies who remained in Walker finished our shopping and headed home at about 5:00.
When Tom & I both arrived back at the cabin, we packed a couple of sandwiches and 2 Summer Shandy's in our cooler and headed out to the lake for fishing. We went over to Pike Bay and were able to catch about 8 fish to add to the 2 Tom & Dad had caught this morning. It was the coolest weather we had had yet on our whole trip, so we actually had to break out the sweatshirts. After fishing, all of the adults (Tom & Linda, Deb & Roy, Paul & Melissa) met at Mom & Dad's cabin for coffee, where we shared fish stories and enjoyed good company and conversation.
