We all slept in today and spent the morning just relaxing in the cabin as the weather was a bit cool and too windy for fishing. Around noon we decided to "do the Walker" thing...Walker, Minnesota, that is. Usually this means the girls and I drive the car down and do a little shopping while Tom rides his bike down and meets us. I decided to shake things up a little bit this year, and do the bike ride with Tom. Jared wanted to ride as well.
So...since Leah now has her license, she and Chloe drove down in the CR-V. I left at about 1:30 p.m. and made it the 24 miles down to Walker in under 2.5 hours. Tom & Jared left a little later, and caught up with me around the 20-mile mark. Our ride was on one section of the Heartland Trail...a smooth, paved bike trail through Minnesota countryside.
When we arrived in Walker, Tom loaded the bikes up on the car and we met up with the girls. After a little shopping (we HAD to pick up our Highlander Grogg coffee beans!), we all met at Zona Rosa's Mexican restaurant for supper. Now we're just hanging back at the resort, catching up on travel blogs, reading, and chatting with cousins.
